Is the ENHANCE Board Game Backpack Worth It in 2026? Capacity, Price and Rivals
Worth it if you haul several big boxes on foot: ENHANCE's Classic backpack has a 12.5 x 12.5 x 21 inch interior that ENHANCE says fits Gloomhaven, for $139.99 at its own store. For two or three standard boxes, Allplay's padded bag (MSRP $50) is enough.

Is the ENHANCE Board Game Backpack worth it in 2026?
Yes, if you regularly carry several big boxes on foot or on transit: ENHANCE's Classic Edition backpack has a 12.5 x 12.5 x 21 inch interior that ENHANCE says fits Gloomhaven, padded walls stiffened with polymer sheets and a chest strap, for $139.99 on ENHANCE's own store (checked October 2026). If you drive to game night with two or three standard boxes, Allplay's padded Standard bag, at an MSRP of $50, does the job for far less money.
This review is assembled from ENHANCE's and Allplay's own product pages plus one dated third-party write-up, and it describes what those pages publish rather than first-hand use.
Which backpack this is
The bag behind our link is ENHANCE's Board Game Backpack in the Classic Edition, black, model ENTTCFG100BKEW. ENHANCE's product description calls it the Tabletop Series Board Game Tower Backpack, and the "tower" is literal: it is a tall pack with a square footprint, built for stacking boxes flat on top of one another.
ENHANCE sells a second version, the Collector's Edition, with a Dragon Scale exterior and a higher price. Both are compared below, along with Allplay's Standard Board Game Bag, the cheaper soft-sided option this site also links.

How much does it actually hold?
Space. ENHANCE gives the interior as 12.5 x 12.5 x 21 inches and says it "fits board games of all sizes, including massive games such as Gloomhaven." An elastic strap inside holds the stack in place so boxes don't slide while you walk.
ENHANCE's store page text gives no outside dimensions. A May 2021 post on Dragon Blogger by Dang Ton, a brand-affiliate write-up, listed the pack at 23 x 14.5 x 13 inches. The same post worked out that it could hold up to 6 boxes of Dead of Winter; that figure came from the reviewer's calculation, not a packing test.
Weight. Here ENHANCE's own page disagrees with itself. Its feature bullets say the pack "can store up to 60lbs of games when using the built-in chest strap", while the description lower down says it "Holds up to 45lbs of Games!" and "Comfortably holds up to 45lbs of gaming gear." Plan around the lower number and treat the higher one as a ceiling with the chest strap buckled.
For scale, the Dragon Blogger reviewer put a Gloomhaven box at "roughly at 20 pounds" on its own and warned that a load near the 45-pound mark "can be inconvenient for gamers to carry around." The pack can carry a heavy evening; your back decides how heavy.
Order of packing. ENHANCE describes a "Vertical Tower Design" that lets you "pile up your favorite board games". Piled boxes mean the game you want is often at the bottom, the same problem our guide to storing games flat or vertical describes for shelf stacks. Pack the first game you will play last.
The case for it
- Protection on the move. ENHANCE's walls are "padded foam reinforced with hard polymer sheets for a semi-rigid structure that actually holds its shape", which matters when the pack gets set down on a bus floor or knocked in a doorway.
- Big-box capacity. ENHANCE names Gloomhaven as a fit, and the elastic interior strap is there to hold smaller boxes still when the bag isn't full.
- Pockets for the small stuff. Card decks and pocket-size games go in exterior zippered pockets, with a larger pocket for buzzers, pencils and notepads. Dragon Blogger counted 3 zipped pockets on the front, one "almost twice the size" of the other two.
- It flattens. Fold down two internal panels and the empty bag collapses for storage.
- Owner ratings. ENHANCE's own store shows a 4.6 average from 660 ratings for the Classic Edition (checked October 2026), a maker-hosted figure rather than an independent survey.
The case against it
- The price. It is $139.99 on ENHANCE's store; Allplay's Standard bag carries an MSRP of $50.
- The bulk. ENHANCE says it plainly: "We know the Tower Game Backpack is huge, but it's also designed for comfort and stability." Squeezing it under a café table or onto a crowded train is a real cost.
- Two capacity numbers. A maker that prints both 45 and 60 pounds for the same bag leaves you to guess which test, if any, sits behind each.
- Weather-resistant is not waterproof. ENHANCE's word is "Weather Resistant Material". The Dragon Blogger post, which called the bag waterproof, still warned that "There is no protection at all for any components that stay outside." Keep anything that must stay dry in the main compartment.
- No warranty term on the Classic's page. The Collector's Edition page lists a "3 Year Manufacturer Warranty"; the Classic page states none.
- Overkill for car trips. If the bag rides from your trunk to a friend's door, the stiffened walls and harness are paying for a walk you never take.
Classic or Collector's Edition?
Going by ENHANCE's two product pages, the inside is the same: the same 12.5 x 12.5 x 21 inch interior, the same 45 and 60 pound claims, the same pockets and chest strap. What the extra money buys is cosmetic extras and a printed warranty term: a "Dragon Scales" exterior in several colors, a collectible metal charm keychain and a holographic sticker, plus the only warranty term shown on either page. The Collector's Edition is $179.99 to the Classic's $139.99 (checked October 2026). Our link goes to the Classic.
The cheaper alternative: Allplay's Standard bag
Allplay, which also makes game tables, sells a padded Standard Board Game Bag that is "12 inches wide" and holds "the equivalent of 7 large 'Ticket to Ride' sized game boxes." Allplay says every bag is weather-resistant, carries up to three ways (backpack straps, a horizontal handle, and a luggage slip for stacking it on top of your luggage) and folds away when empty. Its spec block lists an MSRP of $50. The Amazon listing this site links, sold as the Allplay Game Haul, is that same gray Standard bag.
It is softer than the ENHANCE: Allplay's page describes padding, not stiffening panels, and it does not publish a weight limit. For a car trip with a few standard boxes, that is usually enough. Check price on Amazon
Who should buy which
- Buy the ENHANCE Classic if you walk or ride transit to game night with three or more boxes, own Gloomhaven-size games, or want a bag that holds its shape while you load it. Check price on Amazon
- Buy the Allplay Standard if you drive, carry standard square boxes and want the luggage slip for trips.
- Buy neither if you bring one game at a time; a sturdy tote will do.
If you host rather than travel, our game night host's checklist covers the other side of the evening, and if the bag is a present, our gifts for board gamers guide has ideas to pair with it. For the rest of our table and travel gear, see our full shortlist.

FAQ
Does the ENHANCE board game backpack fit Gloomhaven?
ENHANCE says its interior fits "massive games such as Gloomhaven", and that interior measures 12.5 x 12.5 x 21 inches. A Dragon Blogger reviewer estimated the Gloomhaven box alone at roughly 20 pounds, so it takes a big share of the bag's comfortable load before anything else goes in.
How much weight can the ENHANCE backpack carry?
ENHANCE's page prints two figures: up to 60lbs with the built-in chest strap, and up to 45lbs in its description. Plan around 45.
Is the ENHANCE board game backpack waterproof?
ENHANCE calls the material weather resistant, which is a lighter promise than waterproof. Treat it as protection from light weather, and in heavy rain keep the boxes deep in the main compartment.
What is the difference between the Classic and Collector's Edition?
The interior and load claims match on ENHANCE's two pages. The Collector's Edition adds a Dragon Scale exterior, a metal charm keychain, a holographic sticker and a printed 3 Year Manufacturer Warranty, for $179.99 against the Classic's $139.99.
Is there a cheaper board game backpack?
Allplay's Standard Board Game Bag, with an MSRP of $50, has backpack straps, holds the equivalent of 7 large Ticket to Ride-size boxes and folds away, though it lacks the ENHANCE's stiffened walls.
